IP23 Rating
IP23 provides level 2 protection against solids and level 3 protection against liquids, as defined by IEC 60529.
2First digit: Solid protection
Protection against solid objects over 12.5 mm (e.g. fingers)
Test
12.5 mm diameter, 80 mm length jointed test finger
Jointed finger must not penetrate; adequate clearance from hazardous parts
3Second digit: Liquid protection
Protection against spraying water at angles up to 60 degrees from vertical
Test method
Oscillating tube or spray nozzle
10 liters/min at 50-150 kPa for 5-10 minutes depending on surface area
