IP17 Rating
IP17 provides level 1 protection against solids and level 7 protection against liquids, as defined by IEC 60529.
1First digit: Solid protection
Protection against solid objects over 50 mm (e.g. accidental hand contact)
Test
50 mm diameter sphere
Sphere must not fully penetrate the enclosure
7Second digit: Liquid protection
Protection against temporary immersion in water (up to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes)
Test method
Immersion in water tank
1 meter depth for 30 minutes; lowest point at 1m, highest at 0.15m below surface
