IP54 provides level 5 protection against solids and level 4 protection against liquids, as defined by IEC 60529.
5First digit: Solid protection
Dust-protected. Limited ingress of dust permitted, not enough to interfere with operation

8 hours in dust chamber with pressure differential; no harmful deposits
4Second digit: Liquid protection
Protection against splashing water from any direction
Test method
Oscillating tube or spray nozzle
10 liters/min at 50-150 kPa for 5-10 minutes; enclosure tested from all sides
