IP42 Rating
IP42 provides level 4 protection against solids and level 2 protection against liquids, as defined by IEC 60529.
4First digit: Solid protection
Protection against solid objects over 1.0 mm (e.g. thin wires, screws)
Test
1.0 mm diameter access probe
Probe must not penetrate the enclosure
2Second digit: Liquid protection
Protection against vertically falling water drops when enclosure is tilted up to 15 degrees
Test method
Drip box or oscillating tube
3 mm/min rainfall for 2.5 min per tilt position (4 positions)
